Report unsafe work in Victoria: WorkSafe Advisory
Short answer
In Victoria, report unsafe work to your manager, supervisor, employer or HSR. If that stalls, or you’re uneasy about it, WorkSafe Advisory takes safety concerns on weekdays. WorkSafe’s online complaints form isn’t the route for a safety concern, and WorkSafe’s guidance allows an anonymous report.

Start on site
Start with the people on the job. WorkSafe Victoria’s guidance is to report unsafe work conditions, and work-related injuries and illnesses, to your manager, supervisor, employer or health and safety representative. On a busy site the HSR is often the quickest way to get a hazard in front of the right person. If you’d rather not say it out loud, a recorded report with a photo does the same job.
Going to WorkSafe Victoria
When the site doesn’t act, the contact is WorkSafe Advisory. It answers on weekdays, and its number is on WorkSafe Victoria’s contact page. Victoria has an online complaints form too, but WorkSafe’s page says not to use it for health and safety concerns or incidents. That form is for complaints, and a safety concern goes to Advisory directly. It’s an easy mix-up, and it costs days.
Your name and what happens to it
WorkSafe’s guidance allows you to report the matter anonymously if you’re still concerned after raising it with your employer or HSR. Be realistic about it. A name-free report on a small crew can still point at the person who made it. Think about who could work it out before you decide.
When someone has been hurt
Victoria runs its own Occupational Health and Safety Act, so the notifiable rules differ from the harmonised states. A serious incident is reported on the emergency number, which runs around the clock. The Victorian notifiable incidents page covers the written notice, and the last row below carries the regulator’s wording.
Where Haznote fits
Haznote works with no signal. On a basement slab or a regional job, the report waits on the phone and sends itself later. It carries the time you actually saw the hazard. The manager reviews and confirms it. Haznote doesn’t lodge anything with WorkSafe, and anonymous reporting is a site setting, off by default and best-effort.
What the regulator says
Each row shows the source’s own words, who published them and when they were last checked by script.
